Before I went to law school, I read a few of the common law school guides that most law students read. These guides promised me academic success as long as I followed the particular strategies that they described. I followed their advice for about half of my time at law school, and it’s a good thing I didn’t keep following it longer.

As I got wiser to the ways of law school, I realized that much of the advice given to law students is counterproductive. As I moved away from the advice found in mainstream law school guides, my grades, and more importantly my overall law school experience, improved markedly.

Towards the end of my the time at law school and even for some time after I graduated, my friends and I would discuss all the mistakes we had made by listening to the silly mainstream law school advice. We would often wonder out loud how this advice came to be, illogical and ineffective as much of it is.

Now that I know better after making many mistakes as a law student, I will share with you one common law school strategy that you should fervently avoid if you want to do your best in law school. Unsurprisingly, most law school guides encourage this exact strategy, to your academic, financial, and social detriment.

The strategy I am talking about is the use of hornbooks and commercial study aids to prepare for classes and exams. As a law student, you should do your best to avoid this common mistake, and here are a number of reasons why. First, studying from commercially prepared study aids is not an effective study strategy, because the material in these study aids differs from your course material. The way study aids present material will also differ from the way in which your professor wants you to approach and understand the course material. Contrary to popular belief, you can get all the information you need to do extremely well on exams from the casebook, relevant statutes, and class, without ever resorting to study aids. Furthermore, buying hornbooks multiplies the number of sources you feel that you must study, and will only make the learning process more confusing, frustrating, and ineffective.

Second, hornbooks and commercial study aids are expensive, and the cost of these aids adds up fast, especially if you believe that you need them for each of your classes. Being that these extraneous materials contain little, if anything, of value to your studies, you will do well to save your money for more worthwhile pursuits, such as vacations, electronics, or whatever it is that you like. And yes, the money you save on hornbooks can actually pay for a vacation, even a nice one.

Third, given that study aids have nothing to offer over the actual course materials in terms of valuable study material, they waste your time. Your time in law school is valuable, and you should try to be as efficient as possible by using that time to study the casebook and to relax. The less time you spend on useless study aids, the more time you will have for effective study and for relaxation, which will help you stay balanced and focused in law school, while avoiding burnout.

Finally, you should be aware that most professors are against the use of study aids (except those who write these aids), and they know what they’re talking about. Your professors were exceptional law students, and most of the time they know what they’re talking about when it comes to study strategy, so listen when they tell you that the most important information is in the casebook and statutory supplement, rather than in a commercial study aid.

Instead of wasting your time and money on hornbooks and commercial study aids, read your class materials and devote at least some of your free time to activities that you enjoy.

The criminal lawyers have lots of benefits. The job is tough as well as challenging and this is the reason why you would love to work. But you must make sure that you are able to sacrifice your time for this profession.

You might get very less time for your family. This is the only side effect of this job. It is also very important to choose the right kind of law course. You need to enter the law school and for this you need to pass the LSAT.

After this you can apply to the law schools. You must always make sure that you choose the best school. There are lots of law schools present and this might confuse you. After you get the law degree you need to pass the start bar exam.

Criminal law will surely be better than the other ordinary subjects. Some people even want to become injury lawyers so that they can provide justice to people who are injured because of the negligence of some other people or organization.

White collar criminals receive softer punishment for their crimes than street criminals and why this so and Is it fair?

The reason white-collar crimes receive softer punishment is because since these crimes are committed by highly intelligent and well established individuals who are at a good status in society and probably good earners, they are able to afford the best lawyers and manipulate the legal system. Some times they have friends in positions that came help them get a softer punishment where as a street criminal can not afford all that. The factor which also plays a vital role in softer punishment is that these white collar criminal have not used force or physical harm in committing the crime. These crimes are only reported when they are detected and police is only brought in to arrest the criminal. They can go unnoticed if not detected and may never be revealed.

 In my opinion the softer punishment does not serve the purpose at all. It does not deter white collar criminals at all. They may be responsible for killing of many people indirectly but they seem harmless than a normal murderer. They are in fact more dangerous than a street criminal despite the fact that they did not use any physical force. Their actions can be responsible for destroying many families and they get away with it because they are able to afford the best defense. Their punishment should be heavy so people are scared of committing these white collar crimes as well which are equally detrimental towards a society.

In the previous article This is Allah (52), the Prophet Shuayb said unto the people of Madyan (Midian):O my people, worship Allah! you have no god other than Him, give full measure and weight and do not diminish the value of people’s goods, and do not work corruption in the earth, Do not Lurk on every road that people use to threaten, scare and take the clothes of strangers, and to turn away the believers from Allah’s path. And remember when you were but few, and then Allah multiplied you. And behold what was the end of the agents of corruption, before you, for denying their messengers, that is, behold how destruction was the conclusion of their affair.

Then, Shuayb said unto them:

The meaning of verse 7:87

And if there is a party of you who believe in that with which I have been sent, and a party who do not believe, in it, then have patience and wait until Allah judges between us and you, by delivering the affirmer of this truth and destroying the denier of it. Allah is the best of judges, the fairest of them.

The meaning of verse 7:88

The chieftains of Madyan, who were scornful and disdainful towards believing said: ‘Surely we will expel you, O Shuayb, and those who believe with you, from our township, unless you return to embrace our creed, our religion (herein, the plural person predominates over the singular in their address [to Shuayb] because Shuayb was never part of their religious community; and so in the same [plural] way Shuayb responded. Shuayb said: ‘What, should we return to it, even though we are averse, to it? Even though we hate it?) would you force us to do this even though we hate it? (the interrogative herein is meant as a disavowal).

The meaning of verse 7:89

Shuayb continued:

We would be forging a lie against Allah if we were to return to your creed after Allah has delivered us from it. We should have invented a falsehood against Allah if we returned to your religion after Allah has rescued us from it It is not, right, for us to return to it, unless Allah our Lord wills that [it be so] and forsakes us. In other words, it is not permissible for us to embrace your religion: associating others with Allah unless Allah takes away the knowledge from our hearts. Our Lord embraces all things through His knowledge, that is to say, His knowledge embraces all things, including my situation and yours. In Allah we have put our trust.

Then Shuayb prayed:

Our Lord, decide with truth, adjudicate with justice, between us and our people, for You are the best of deciders’, adjudicators; for You are the best of those who make decision, the best of judges.

QARIB: if there are some among you who believe in that which i have been sent and others who disbelieve it, be patient until Allah shall judge between us. he is the best of judges. ‘

SHAKIR: and if there is a party of you who believe in that with which am sent, and another party who do not believe, then wait patiently until Allah judges between us; and he is the best of the judges

PICKTHAL: and if there is a party of you which believeth in that wherewith i have been sent, and there is a party which believeth not, then have patience until Allah judge between us. he is the best of all who deal in judgment.

YUSUFALI: “and if there is a party among you who believes in the message with which i have been sent, and a party which does not believe, hold yourselves in patience until Allah doth decide between us: for he is the best to decide.

Verse 7: 88

QARIB: the proud assembly of his nation said: ‘we will expel you shu’aib and those who believe with you from our village unless you return to our creed. ‘ he replied: ‘even though we hate it?

SHAKIR: the chiefs, those who were proud from among his people said: we will most certainly turn you out, o shu’aib, and (also; those who believe with you, from our town, or you shall come back to our faith. he said: what! though we dislike (it)?

PICKTHAL: the chieftains of his people, who were scornful, said: surely we will drive thee out, o shu’eyb, and those who believe with thee, from our township, unless ye return to our religion. he said: even though we hate it?

YUSUFALI: the leaders, the arrogant party among his people, said: “o shu’aib! we shall certainly drive thee out of our city – (thee) and those who believe with thee; or else ye (thou and they) shall have to return to our ways and religion.” he said: “what! even though we do detest (them)?

Verse 7: 89

QARIB: we would have invented lies about Allah if we returned to your creed from which Allah has saved us, it is not for us that we return into it again except if Allah, our lord wills. for our lord has embraced everything with knowledge, and in Allah we have put our trust. our lord, open between us and our nation with truth, you are the best of openers. ‘

SHAKIR: indeed we shall have forged a lie against Allah if we go back to your religion after Allah has delivered us from it, and it befits us not that we should go back to it, except if Allah our lord please: our lord comprehends all things :n his knowledge; in Allah do we trust: our lord! decide between us and our people with truth; and thou art the best of deciders

PICKTHAL: we should have invented a lie against Allah if we returned to your religion after Allah hath rescued us from it. it is not for us to return to it unless Allah our lord should (so) will. our lord comprehendeth all things in knowledge. in Allah do we put our trust. our lord! decide with truth between us and our folk, for thou art the best of those who make decision.

YUSUFALI: “we should indeed invent a lie against Allah, if we returned to your ways after Allah hath rescued us therefrom; nor could we by any manner of means return thereto unless it be as in the will and plan of Allah, our lord. our lord can reach out to the utmost recesses of things by his knowledge. in the Allah is our trust. our lord! decide thou between us and our people in truth, for thou art the best to decide.”
