Of course, we learn more all the time, but lots of companies were aware of the dangers that their workforce were facing, and many did anything to protect them. industrial disease is a common problem for so many people, and a lot of people are now claiming compensation for their illnesses.
One problem that affects a lot of people is industrial deafness. this is simply put, deafness, caused by your working environment. A lot of people years ago would have been working in noisy industrial jobs, and realistically they should have been offered some protection in the for of head phones to protect their ears.
Similarly, people who suffer from vibration white finger will testify that they were never told about the dangers of operating large power tools for a long time, but companies did know this information. At least things seem to be improving these days, but it is important that the older workforce come forward with any problems. There is a good chance that a lot of these people will be able to make a claim and there is lots of money to be rewarded to these long suffering people.
